{DIY} labels

I got these super cute baskets at a garage sale for 5$ or all 3! I thought they would be perfect for the mess in my daughters room. Plus they are super duper cute! So I wanted to make labels for each (for my daughter and my hubby hehe).

 

Heres what you need

• Scissors
• printer/computer
• cardstock
• labels (right click them and save!)

 

 - side note - you can also make your own labels using www.picmonkey.com. They have super cute labels under *overlays* and labels.
 Heres how you create your own. First you have to right click and save this blank page here

Now you open this blank picture onto picmonkey. Then you go to overlays and under overlays you go to labels. Play with them a bit so that you can customize them to your shape and color that you would like your labels to be. Then you go under the "p" on the left hand side of the page {at picmonkey} Which is the text. You make a "add text" and put the text inside the label. In my case I used blankets, toys, and stuffed animals. You could do this with anything! Options are endless people! Then I printed them out. I printed them out on cardstock (cardstock is much durable and can be found at walmart.) I printed the labels so that the layout I selected was "4x6" size so that they were smaller and didn't take up the whole page (could fit 2 labels per page). I cut them out with a paper cutter (so that the edges or even) but you can just use a scissors as well. I clipped them on the basket with two clothes pins and fell in love! HAPPY LABELING to all!!!! xoxo

Jute Wrapped Desk Lamp {DIY}

Here is my inspiration.....ahhhh swoon.....

This can cost you though a hefty price tag of 55$! But it is adorable! So I wanted to do something similar to this guy I got at a thrift store for $2! And it screamed MAKE ME PRETTY!!

It had this black base bottom thingy that I wanted to jute dazzle!

What you will need

1.Scissors

2. Jute (you can buy at any local hardware/walmart store for a couple bucks)

3.Glue gun and glue

 

 

So you plug in your glue gun and wait for it to warm up. You then put glue on the lamp and you wrap your jute around the stem of the lamp. I do a little area at a time so that the glue does not harden. Make sure to pull the jute tight so that it wraps nicely around the stem of the lamp.

 

You continue to do this until you reach the top of your designated area. When you are finished wrapping it you cut the jute off with the scissors then glue the remaining end of the string of jute onto the lamp. Yep and your done! Its so easy I tell you what! And it makes it look a million times better! I might want to do this to another larger lamp and get a bit more daring? Stay tuned.........

 

 

 

 

State Pillow {DIY} NO SEW!

What You Will Need:
-Scissors
-Fabric (recommend something thicker)
-Fabric Glue
-Pillow
-Pencil
-Computer/ Maps

First I picked out my state. I have a book of maps and I cut out my home state of Minnesota :). I know you also can print out a outline of states if you just google your state there are lots of size and options available. I had some white fabric and I traced the state onto my white fabric with a pencil and cut it out. I recommend using a thick fabric such as felt for the state due to when I made mine the glue shows through a bit.

 I'm not the best sewer, so when I saw that there is fabric glue (available at any craft store or Walmart) I just had to get it. I traced the outline of my state with the fabric glue and all over the inside of the state. Then I put the state on my pillow and pressed it down.

 I cut out a little heart and glued it onto the area of were my home town is located! I can't wait to make more of these and get more creative with colored fabric, chevron, and stripes! So fun!

I even did an USA one! Its my new obsession!

 

 

Toy turned Glam

We got a box of these little plastic cute horses, a couple bulls, and a couple donkeys at a sale. We wanted to glam them up.

So with a little spray metallic spray paint (got paint at Menards) they turned out glitzed!

This poor little horsey that was once sad and lonely.

Is now a gold stallion for everyone to see!

Industrial End Table

Okay isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen? It turns and its on wheels! I'm in love! I saw two of these (I have two) chairs (as seen below) at a sale and I fell head over heels for the metal industrial base on this chair and new I had to do something with it. This table took me 2 minutes to create from this:

The White House Girls

Vintage {thrifty DIY} Wall Art

Okay so this project costs close to nothing!  And super easy. I spent $8 on the whole thing! I am deeply in love with old photographs and pictures. Someone threw out a whole set of vintage encyclopedias and I was the lucky one to find them! I spent a couple days just going through them and looking at the wonderful vintage pictures. I tore out my favorite ones and stored them away. So when I found these frames at the dollar store I knew it would be perfect for these encyclopedia pages. They are wonderful! Simple and chic.

 

 

What you'll need

• Dollar store frames (there is these 11x14" and/or both these 8 1/2 x11")
• Book pages

*I guarantee you if you go to your local thrift store they will have a book for you with something that catches your eye. I've rarely seen a book for more than $2, and they are usually filled with beautiful pictures. Little Green notebook has a little different idea with beautiful moth prints from a book (check it out, they are beautiful!). You could do kids books, nature, maps, encyclopedias, you name it! Try to stick towards a theme and group it together.

So First off I picked out my pages from the book that I loved the most. I just tore the pages out and didn't even bother to cut them out neatly. I like the jagged edge look.

Then I took out the inner cardboard from the frame and flipped it around so that the black is facing the back and the grey is facing you.

Then I just placed the book page in the middle of the frame.

 

 I love how they turned out. Why buy expensive art when books are filled with these things?!

 

Can organization be fun? I think so....

Okay I am not one of those {crazy} people who enjoy organizing things (I am jealous of those whom enjoy in doing so...ya, you know who you are....). I'm one of those people whom has everything, everywhere in my house. When I'm looking for a glue stick, there is about 5 different spots were those glue sticks are. Yep, it's a bit crazy. So I've been thinking of ways in order to be a bit more organized. But it has to be cute and most definitely fun. So I got super excited when I found these awesome glass containers at the dollar store! I HEART AWESOME DOLLAR STORE FINDS!

   

They have a edge/area to paint chalkboard paint on them so no taping/measuring required! click here to check them out. The awesome thing about these is that you don't have to just use them for crafts supplies but also in the kitchen for sugar, flour, tea, coffee, or in the bathroom for cotton balls, q tips, etc. The options are endless! *This is when I jump up, fist in air while clicking my heels....HOORAY!*

Painted Couch Reveal!

 Yes the painted frenzy doesn't stop at chairs {see here and here}. We painted this couch and the results were AMAZING! So amazing we fought over who could keep it....It literally looks like leather! I cheated on the reveal though by not finishing the seat cushions but couldn't hold it in anymore and wanted to share.

BEFORE

2 parts paint to 1 part fabric medium {the fabric medium softens the fabric}

THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!  Love watching the transformation!! Ahhhhhh....this poor little couch just sat there all lonely....It was in amazing shape and I LOVED the wood detail!  After painting the matching chair {which went so smoothly} we decided that it had to be ours!  I am so glad we rescued this lovely!

AFTER

It truly looks like an expensive leather couch!  love it!  Now it's just time to finish the cushions!  Hope you all enjoyed our HOW To!  I bet you are all looking around at your furniture wondering what you can paint! 

Chicken Wire Frame {DIY}

 

Chicken wire gives frames a new life! I had this big gold frame hanging around in my basement that I got a while back for $9. I have drug it out so many times wanting to do something with it and finally I was inspired...... by this.....

What You need:

1. Heavy duty stapler
2. Staples
3. Frame (make sure its wood)
4. Chicken wire - if you know any farmers...they usually have this laying around haha (you can purchase it at home depot) click here for home depot chicken wire.
5. Wire cutters
6. a little bit of strength (stretching wire out) :)

I take the frame and lay it over the chicken wire and cut out the wire all the way around. Its better to over estimate then to underestimate because you can always go back and trim off the wire after stapling it.  

 Then you start at one side of the frame and staple ever two wires (as seen below). This way it is good and sturdy! I staple one side then staple the other side of the frame that is parallel to side that you just stapled. This makes it extra tight so that you can hang pictures from it. Then proceed to do the other two sides just the same. Make sure you are pulling the wire with every staple to make it as tight as possible!! (This is were the strength comes in!)

 

A little rustic in a pretty Victorian frame? YES PLEASE!
